Olympic history for Team USA was made Saturday with the 2026 Milan Cortina Games now marking the most gold medals won by U.S. athletes in a single Winter Olympics.

The final medal needed to break the record was earned Saturday by freestyle skiers Kaila Kuhn, Connor Curran and Chris Lillis earned a combined top score of 325.35 in the mixed team aerials, defending the U.S.’s gold medal in the event from Beijing.

Team USA now holds 11 gold medals across women’s, men’s and mixed teams sports at the Milan Cortina Games. In total, U.S. athletes have earned 32 medals throughout the competition.

Though the U.S. marked a personal record, Norway is likely to finish the Games with the highest total number of medals.

As of Saturday, Norway has 40 total medals — the most in the competition. Team USA has the second most, with 32, followed by Italy with 30. Japan and Germany both have 24.

There are four remaining events where athletes can up their country’s medal count before the end of the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics. Bobsleigh, cross-country skiing, curling and ice hockey all have events set to start between 3 a.m. and 7:10 a.m. on Sunday. Then, the Closing Ceremony will kick off at 1:30 p.m. CT.
