Massive plume of black smoke visible from I-90 rises from fire near O’Hare Airport

A massive plume of black smoke could be seen from I-90 as it billowed from a structure fire on Chicago’s Far Northwest Side.

Around 6:15 p.m., video posted to social media showed a large plume of dark smoke rising from a building on the 5500 block of North East River Road in Chicago.

Flames could be seen rising from the roof of the building at one point, video showed.

Authorities said the fire was out as of 7:10 p.m. and no injuries were reported.

The building on fire is located roughly 4 miles from O’Hare Airport.

No additional information was immediately available.
