Five people were injured in a mass shooting on Chicago’s South Side Wednesday evening, authorities said.
Around 7:30 p.m., five people were shot in an incident that spanned multiple Chicago neighborhoods, the Chicago Fire Department said.
Three people who were shot were taken to local hospitals by CFD from locations in Woodlawn, CFD said, including one person who was shot at South Stony Island Ave and East Marquette Road and two who showed up with injuries at the fire house located at 1440 East 67th Street.
Another person who was shot was transported to a local hospital from the 1500 block of East 69th Place in the Grand Crossing neighborhood, CFD said.
A police investigation could be seen at South Stony Island Ave and East Marquette Road in Chicago near the south end of Jackson Park around 8 p.m., video posted to social media showed.
Crime scene tape could be seen wrapping around a BP gas station on the southwest corner of the intersection, video showed.
Chicago police said officers were responding to a call for service in the area but did not provide additional details.
