The Chicago Bulls have been in a tailspin since the NBA trade deadline, and they could be poised to make the wrong kind of history Thursday.
The Bulls will take on the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday night at the United Center, and as they take the floor, they’ll be looking to avoid a franchise-first.
According to NBA.com, the Bulls are at risk of going the entire month of February without winning a game, and if they lose to Portland on Thursday night, it would mark the first time in franchise history that the team has gone an entire calendar month without a victory.
Since January 31 when they beat the Miami Heat, the Bulls have lost 10 games in a row while trading away players like Coby White, Ayo Dosunmu, Nikola Vucevic and others.
Overall the Bulls have lost 13 of their last 14 games, and have fallen out of a playoff spot, as they trail the Charlotte Hornets by four games for the 10th spot in the Eastern Conference.
If the Bulls lose on Thursday, they also would continue inching closer to another franchise record. That mark is the most losses the team has suffered in a row, with the longest losing streak ever currently sitting at 16 consecutive games.
Things won’t get much easier for the Bulls after the Portland game, as they’ll take on the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday and the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday. They then will embark on a five-game west coast road trip.
