2 killed in northwest Indiana murder-suicide

Police in Merrillville, Indiana, are investigating after two people were found dead in a murder-suicide, authorities said.

At around 8:15 a.m. on Friday, officers with the Merrillville Police Department were called to the 7600 block of Van Buren Street for an assault with a firearm, police said in a news release. When officers arrived, they found a man and woman dead inside the home.

Police said there’s no ongoing threat to the public.
