Sheriff’s deputies in suburban Will County are searching for the driver who struck and killed a person in a hit-and-run on Friday evening.
At around 6 p.m., deputies with the Will County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of an injured person in the roadway along 159th Avenue near Gougar and Cedar roads in Homer Glen Township.
An initial investigation showed a driver was heading eastbound on 159th Avenue when they struck a dog. That driver stopped and found an injured person in the roadway, who appeared to have been hit by another driver.
Authorities say that driver and a passerby began to render aid to the injured person.
Anyone who witnessed the incident was asked to call the Will County Sheriff’s Office.
