Former Chicago Bears linebacker Tremaine Edmunds has reportedly found a new home in NFL free agency.
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport, Edmunds has signed a three-year deal to join John Harbaugh and the New York Giants.
The deal will pay Edmunds $36 million over three seasons, according to the report.
After cutting Edmunds, the Bears allocated their resources to all parts of their defense, signing safety Coby Bryant from the Seahawks, linebacker Devin Bush from the Browns and defensive tackle Neville Gallimore from the Colts.
The Bears opted to cut Edmunds last week after being unable to find a trade partner for the linebacker. The move saved the Bears $15 million in salary cap space.
Edmunds was the Bears’ leading tackler last season, registering 112 tackles. Edmunds had four interceptions and a sack for the Bears. He also had 13 tackles in two playoff games.
Edmunds has played three seasons with the Bears, with 335 combined tackles and 24 passes defended with the team.
