A massive police presence was reported on Monday evening as police investigated an officer-involved shooting in Chicago’s Humboldt Park neighborhood, with more than a dozen marked and unmarked law enforcement vehicles visible.
Video from NBC Chicago Sky 5 helicopter showed a busy scene in the area of Homan and Chicago avenues at around 6 p.m. A portion of Chicago Avenue was blocked off with crime scene tape, eastbound traffic was backed up, and a number of onlookers were present as police worked on the scene.
Chicago police said one suspect was taken into custody following the shooting, but it wasn’t clear if that person was injured. Authorities did say no officers were hurt.
A weapon was recovered, and the Chicago Police Department’s Investigative Response Team responded to the scene, authorities said.
