A theme of this year’s Illinois primary election is the retirement of long-time public servants and crowded battles to replace them for the first time in decades, in some cases.

Among those races is the 7th Congressional District, left vacated by Rep. Danny Davis after nearly three decades.
Thirteen candidates ran on the Democratic ticket and two on the Republican ticket for their chance at continuing on to the midterm general election in November.
After polls close in Illinois at 7 p.m., see results below for the 7th Congressional District race as votes are tallied.
