An emotional photo series honored fallen Chicago firefighter Michael Altman as his newborn daughter, who was born one day before his funeral, sat wrapped in his gear.
Evelyn Rose was born late last month, one week after her father’s tragic death.
In a series published on social media by Real Life Moment Photography, the infant is seen both laying on Altman’s firefighter jacket and sitting in his helmet.
“Wrapped in her father’s bravery. Resting in his legacy. Loved beyond this life,” the caption read.
Altman, 32, was critically injured March 16 while fighting a blaze in the city’s Rogers Park neighborhood. According to officials, Altman fell through a floor and was pulled from the building. He later died at an area hospital.
“Michael gave everything in service to the people of Chicago, and we will never forget his courage and sacrifice,” Fire Commissioner Annette Nance-Holt previously said.
A 27-year-old man has been charged with murder and arson in connection with Altman’s death.
