The Chicago area saw multiple rounds of severe weather this week, but the next few days will be much calmer and much cooler.
Saturday got off to a gloomy start in the area under cloudy skies, but there will be some clearing as the day moves along, with some sunshine expected on what will be a much cooler day.
High temperatures will be in the low-50s across the area, with breezy conditions slowly subsiding into the evening, according to forecast models.
Overnight Saturday and into Sunday morning temperatures could drop into the mid-30s in the city and could even dip below freezing in outlying suburbs, with frost possible across the region according to the National Weather Service.
Sunday’s forecast will call for some sunshine and some scattered showers, though no significant rainfall is expected, according to the NBC 5 Storm Team.
Highs will once again be in the low-50s, and after skies clear late in the day, a freeze risk could enter the forecast on Monday morning, with low temperatures dropping below 30 degrees in some locations.
Monday will see temperatures rebound slightly, with highs in the mid-50s, but things will warm up much more on Tuesday, with highs climbing into the 70s.
The next significant chance of rain in the Chicago area looks to be Friday, with some showers and thunderstorms possible as highs climb back into the 80s.
