Police are investigating after a 20-year-old woman was found dead in the Chicago River on Sunday.
Around 8 a.m., authorities responded to a call from a person who said they noticed something in the Chicago River on the 2200 block of South Grove Street on the border of Pilsen and South Loop.
Chicago police’s Marine Unit investigated and recovered an unresponsive 20-year-old woman from the water, authorities said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Cook County Medical Examiner later identified the woman as Maria Jose Casas Fabela.
No additional information was immediately available.
Detectives are continuing to investigate.
