After a day of summer-like weather, the Chicago area could see thunderstorms and showers roll through overnight Thursday and into Friday morning.
A line of showers and thunderstorms will move across northern Illinois and Northwest Indiana, the National Weather Service said.
Theres a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms mainly after 2 a.m. on Friday and continuing possibly until noon, NWS said. Then, between noon and 1 p.m., showers are likely and possibly a thunderstorm.
Friday afternoon is expected to be mostly cloudy with a high near 72 degrees. Winds could also get up to 20 mph, NWS said, and there’s a 60% chance of rain.
Saturday and Sunday are both expected to be sunny with highs near 60 degrees.
Though the potential storms overnight and on Friday are expected to weaken by the time they hit the Chicago-area, there is a risk of severe thunderstorms in the area on Monday.
There is a 20% change of showers after 1 a.m. on Monday, with a possible thunderstorm and showers likely again after 1 p.m.
