Metra riders from the suburbs to the city were facing multiple issues during the Friday morning rush hour commute, with multiple trains stopped or canceled due to mechanical problems, officials said.
According to a service alert, as many as three UP-NW Metra trains would not operate for the rest of the day, including UPNW Train 624 from McHenry, UPNW Train 632 from Des Plaines and UPNW Train 615 from Ogilvie Transportation Center due to “mechanical problems.”
Earlier Friday morning, problems impacted other Metra trains, with Metra’s UP-W line stopped at Villa Park due to a vehicle on the tracks.
Passengers were encouraged to check their Ventra app for more information.
