Illinois resident buys Lottery ticket at favorite gas station, collects $1 million prize

An Illinois resident got to live out the dream of many when he sat down for his lunch break after purchasing a scratch-off Lottery ticket.

That resident, who chose to remain anonymous, purchased a $50 “Millionaire Club” scratch-off ticket at a suburban Lombard gas station in recent weeks.

When he scratched that ticket off during a break at work, he was able to join that “club” by capturing the game’s top $1 million jackpot prize.

“I scratched off the ticket during a break at work and boom—I won,” he said.

The lucky winner told Lottery officials that he frequents the gas station, and is “close friends” with many of the staff members.

In an even wilder twist, he seemed to foresee his own victory.

“They were thrilled when I shared the good news with them,” he said. “When I bought the ticket, I told them I was coming back with a lot of zeroes. I can’t believe it actually happened!”

According to Lottery officials, the lucky winner said he was going to purchase a house and refresh his wardrobe, and he’s going to “invest in his family’s future.”
