Unruly passenger in custody after flight to Chicago diverts to Boston

An international flight diverted to Boston for an unruly passenger on Monday, officials said.

The passenger was taken into custody by Massachusetts State Police troopers, the agency said, after they were contacted by Massport about 9:34 a.m.

The person, who wasn’t publicly identified, declined medical attention at the gate, after being taken off the United flight. They had been restrained on the plane but were cooperative when troopers got on the plane, police said.

Police didn’t share more details about the passenger’s suspected conduct, noting only that they were investigating.

United confirmed that Flight 945 landed safely after a passenger’s disruption, and that they expect the plane to leave for Chicago later on Monday. The airline didn’t offer more details on what happened on the plane.
