A suburban Walmart has been forced to temporarily close after a fire left two people injured Thursday.
According to Oswego fire officials, the fire broke out on the roof of the Walmart located in the community of Montgomery just before 1 p.m. Thursday.
Crews arrived on the scene and quickly began working to extinguish the blaze to prevent it from spreading into the structure.
According to officials, while the fire was contained to the roof, the interior of the store did suffer water and smoke damage as a result of the blaze and the efforts to contain it.
One individual was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and released, authorities said. A second individual was hospitalized with an unrelated injury.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and the store is temporarily closed to allow for repairs, according to authorities.
