A 57-year-old man has died after he fell four stories from a Northwestern University building’s roof Thursday, Evanston police say.
According to Evanston police, officers and firefighters were called to the Northwestern University Allen Center at approximately 3:26 p.m. for a reported construction accident.
Police say a 57-year-old construction worker was operating equipment on the roof of the building when he fell off, plunging four stories to the ground below.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Evanston police are coordinating with Northwestern personnel, and at this time, there were no signs of criminal activity, according to officials.
“We are aware of an incident that took place at the construction site of a new Kellogg building on the Northwestern University campus. Our thoughts are with those involved,” a university spokesperson said in a statement.
