Chilly conditions are set to stick around on Saturday, with highs in the 50s and even cooler temperatures near the lake before a welcome change arrives beginning in the latter part of the weekend.
Saturday began with temperatures in the low-to-mid 30s under mostly sunny skies and dew point values in the upper 20s, allowing frost to form in some areas.
Clear skies were expected early on, with NBC 5 Storm Team Meteorologist Pete Sack explaining cloudiness to the north would drift in through the late morning and into afternoon. As a result, expect sunshine through the morning and increasing clouds in the afternoon before mostly cloudy skies take hold.
Some sunshine was expected as temperatures were set to moderate a bit, rising into the mid 50s; it’ll be an improvement from Friday which only reached around 50 degrees.
If you’ve got any plans this evening, make sure to take a jacket or sweatshirt with you.
Cool temperatures will be around, but it won’t be quite as cool Sunday morning.
Sack explained increasing clouds will likely slow down radiational cooling, acting like a blanket and helping hold temperatures up in combination with southwesterly winds. Readings will sit around the 40-degree mark.
A chance for some rain showers is expected, though it won’t be a big soaking event; just a couple hundredths of an inch of rain are likely.
Most of the rain will likely move out by noon, making way for sunshine, some breezing conditions and warmer temperatures.
Readings will sit in the upper 60s to around 70 degrees, Sack stated, setting the stage for a pleasant day after showers subside.
An even warmer day is ahead on Monday.
A mild start is expected, and while conditions will be a bit on the breezy side, a warm day appears to be on tap. Look for temperatures to climb into the mid 70s alongside southwesterly winds, Sack said.
A chance of storms does arrive late on Monday and then into early Tuesday, followed by cooler air as a front clears. Additional chances for rain are possible both Wednesday and Thursday.
