Chicago police reported at least four armed carjackings on Friday morning, including two in which the victims were assaulted with handguns.
According to authorities, the crimes unfolded in just over 90 minutes in the Back of the Yards, Chicago Lawn and McKinley Park neighborhoods on Friday morning.
In each of the incidents, four-to-five men wearing dark colored clothing and ski masks exited a stolen vehicle, approached victims brandishing handguns and demanded their property.
Some of the masked suspects entered the vehicle while the others drove off in the other vehicle, according to authorities.
In two of the incidents, the victims were pistol-whipped, police said.
The incidents have occurred:
4800 block of South Honore Street, May 1 at 4:22 a.m. (Back of the Yards)
5900 block of South Maplewood Avenue, May 1 at 4:45 a.m. (Chicago Lawn)
3600 block of South Wolcott Avenue, May 1 at 5:30 a.m. (McKinley Park)
4800 block of South Paulina Street, May 1 at 5:50 a.m. (Back of the Yards)
Chicago police are asking the public to submit tips on the crimes at 312-747-8384, or via the CPD’s tips website.
