The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the woman who died in a homicide in northwest suburban Schaumburg.
Katherine Torbick, 43, was found dead at around 9:20 p.m. Thursday in the 1700 block of Weathersfield Way, authorities said. Torbick was discovered after Schaumburg police officers responded to a 911 call regarding a well-being check and entered the residence.
A man who was known to the victim was inside the home and taken into custody, police said in a prior news release.
Torbick died from strangulation, and her manner of death was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The man into custody hasn’t been identified, and charges haven’t been filed as of Sunday night.
