What might very well be the first baby to arrive in San Diego in 2026 came into the world on New Year’s morning.
A baby girl named Kaia (pronounced “KAI-uh”) Kay Casler was delivered at 12:15 a.m. at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women & Newborns.
Sadly, proud parents Peyton and Ryan Casler, who live in the South Bay, missed out on the 2025 tax deduction by just a quarter-hour. That’s worth up to $2,200 per eligible child.
Fun fact: The teams at Sharp Mary Birch deliver around 7,000 newborns each year.
