Team USA started off day six in Milan without a medal… but there was a ring.
U.S. skier Breezy Johnson crashed in her super-G run this morning, but when she finally made it to the bottom, her boyfriend Connor Watkins was waiting for her down on one knee. Johnson said yes, marking the first engagement at the Milan Cortina Olympics so far.
In the women’s cross-country skiing 10km individual start, Team USA’s Jessie Diggins came in third despite competing with bruised ribs after a crash during the women’s skiathlon event.
Chloe Kim took silver in the women’s snowboarding halfpipe event, which the U.S. has medaled at in every Winter Olympic Games since it was introduced in 1998.
Kristen Santos-Griswold fell in the short track speed skating 500m women’s semifinals, losing a chance at the podium. Team USA won 5-1 against Latvia in its first men’s hockey game at the Milan Cortina Olympics.
