A person was injured after sheriff’s deputies opened fire during a traffic stop in San Marcos on Wednesday night.
Deputies with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office were conducting a traffic stop at 9:03 p.m. at Twin Oaks Valley Road and Borden Road when, due to reasons unknown at this time, shots were fired about 10 to 15 minutes later, according to the SDSO.
The condition of the person who was shot was not immediately available. No deputies were injured during the incident, SDSO said.
The San Diego Police Department took over the investigation of the shooting. The SDPD investigates shootings involving personnel with the SDSO under terms of a countywide agreement designed to prevent conflicts of interest.
This is a developing story and will be updated with more details as they arrive.
