Thousands of residents were left without power on Thursday evening in multiple North County areas, from Carlsbad down south to Encinitas and east in Escondido, according to San Diego Gas & Electricity’s website.
The outages began at 7:41 p.m., plunging thousands of North County residents into darkness.
It is not yet known what caused the outage.
Power is estimated to come back around 10:30 p.m., according to SDG&E.
Coastal communities effected are Carlsbad, Encinitas, La Costa, Cardiff-by-the-Sea and Olivenhain. Other communities affected are Northwestern Rancho Santa Fe and San Elijo Lagoon.
Communities in San Pasqual, Rancho Penasquitos, Rancho Bernardo, southwestern Escondido, west Bernardo, Del Dios and Lake Hodges were also affected.
