One driver was arrested on an outstanding warrant during a Chula Vista Police Department checkpoint this weekend, but no arrests were made for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, authorities said.
The checkpoint was held from 6 p.m. to midnight Saturday in the 1200 block of Eastlake Parkway, according to the Chula Vista Police Department.
Of the 3,009 vehicles that traveled through the checkpoint, 778 were screened. Three drivers were given a field sobriety test and five vehicles were impounded, the CVPD said in a statement.
Of the 14 citations that were issued, eight were for unlicensed driving or driving with a suspended license.
“DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes,” police said.
Funding for the checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
