Caltrans is warning drivers that all northbound lanes of a portion of the Interstate 805 will be closed starting on Friday.
The closure will begin at 9 p.m. from the state Route 52 split to the Miramar Road exit. All entrances and exits into the I-805 at Nobel Drive will be closed, Caltrans said. The portion of the freeway is expected to reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.
Alternate routes to travel north will be available via the I-5, through the SR-52 and I-8 connectors.
The closure follows last weekend’s detour of southbound lanes in the same area. Caltrans says the construction is due to culvert replacement underneath the freeway, pavement upgrades and roadside safety enhancements.
The upgrades are part of a $53.7 million State Highway Operation Protection Program project, with $47.6 million from Federal funds and the remaining $6.1 million from State funds.
The closure will not affect bus service nor trolley service in the area.
