Watch live: Brush fire sparks in Oceanside

A small brush fire in Oceanside was sending a plume of smoke over the area Friday.

The fire sparked just before 4:30 p.m. near Oceanside Boulevard and Rancho del Oro Drive, near the SoCal Sports Complex.

The blaze was about a half-acre, and threatening structures with a critical rate of spread,according to the citizen fire-reporting app, Watch Duty.

Some evacuations were underway, the app reported.
