Caltrans is warning drivers that all northbound lanes of a portion of the Interstate 805 will be closed starting on Friday.
The closure will begin at 9 p.m. at the SR-52 intersection. All entrances and exits into the I-805 at Nobel Drive will be closed.
The portion of the freeway is expected to reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, May 4.
Alternate routes to travel north will be available via the I-5, through the SR-52 and I-8 connectors.
Caltrans says crews will be conducting culvert replacement underneath the freeway, pavement upgrades and roadside safety enhancements.
The closure was postponed last week due to inclement weather.
The work has already been completed on the southbound portion of the I-805.
The upgrades are part of a $53.7 million State Highway Operation Protection Program project, with $47.6 million from Federal funds and the remaining $6.1 million from State funds.
The closure will not affect bus service nor trolley service in the area.
