Former D.C. Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie announced he’s running for D.C. mayor on Wednesday.
News4’s Mark Segraves was among the first to sit down with McDuffie about his decision. McDuffie talked about immigration enforcement in the District and how he plans to fight back against it.
McDuffie resigned from the D.C. Council in December so that he could change his affiliation from independent to Democrat and run in the Democratic primary.
Three-term Mayor Muriel Bowser announced in November she wouldn’t run again. Bowser told the D.C. Economic Club at a recent event, “If you like me, you’re going to love Kenyan. Wink, wink,” fueling speculation that she might endorse McDuffie to replace her.
