Operations have resumed after a car smashed through metal fencing and crashed onto Orange Line train tracks near the Dunn Loring Metro station.
The accident happened Wednesday morning on the westbound lanes of I-66, just before the Cedar Lane overpass, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue said.
Virginia State Police say the driver reached down to grab his E-Z Pass device when he veered off the road and hit ice.
The driver then crashed onto the nearby train tracks.
In the hours that followed the accident, trains had to operate on one track until the car was removed.
One person in the car was sent to the hospital and is expected to be alright.
