4 things to know about the weather:
- Few drops or flakes early
- Breezy, milder afternoon
- Cold raindrops on Thursday
- Saturday looks super nice
As we head into the final few days of February, there is some good news on the horizon.
There are increasing signals that the second half of next week will be our warmest period since before Thanksgiving! Cheers for that! It’s been our coldest winter in 23 years and everyone is ready for spring.
We’re starting out with thick cloud cover Wednesday morning and a pockets of light rain. Temperatures are just above freezing and southwest winds will insure that will remain the case.
The wind will pick up the pace Wednesday morning and help to push some of these clouds away for the second half of the day. Most of the area should get to at least 50° Wednesday with our southwestern quadrant of counties possible reaching the mid-50s.
A cold front will arrive late Wednesday night bringing clouds and rain chances back into the forecast for Thursday. Temperatures on Thursday will hover in the low 40s most of the day with periods of light rain pretty much from start to finish. Rain totals will generally be 1/4 of an inch or less with the possibility of a little more in Southern Maryland.

Expect a nice Saturday but colder temps after
Dry weather will return for Friday and the weekend. Highs on Friday will be around 50° but there’s a good chance to get above 60° on Saturday.
A strong cold front is expected to arrive Sunday morning. Most areas will stay in the 40s to near 50° on Sunday under increasing cloud cover. March will come in like a lion.
Much colder weather on Monday and Tuesday will also come with a risk of cold rain and wet snow. With the rain/snow line in play snow totals will once again be mainly in the nuisance level of 3 inches or less. Any snow won’t be here for long as the warmer air arrives by the middle of next week.
