One person was taken to a hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries after a gas leak and explosion in Calverton, Maryland, Prince George’s County Fire and EMS said.
The fire department said it responded to the scene Powder Mill Cherry Hill Roads at 10:15 p.m. It also said there were downed power lines.
Montgomery County police said it is helping with mutual aid.
A traffic advisory was also issued as a result of the explosion. Cherry Hill Road is closed at the Prince George’s-Montgomery county line, just south of FDA Boulevard. Major delays should be expected, Montgomery County police said.
