4 things to know about the weather:
- Record heat arrives
- Consecutive 90° days likely
- Rain coming Sunday morning
- Way cooler next week
Southwest winds, low humidity levels and high pollen counts will remain in place over the next few days as we wait for a strong cold front to bring normal April weather back to the area on Sunday.
All three of our major airports are likely to set new daily high temperature records Wednesday and Thursday and maybe even Saturday too. The urban centers may just barely be able to get below 70° Wednesday night so record high minimums are also likely to be broken.
Plan for the low 90s Wednesday afternoon and again Thursday. A very weak cold front will turn our winds to the northwest on Friday. Temperatures will still be about 15° above average but at least we won’t be in the 90s.
There were a few isolated storms late Tuesday but rain chances Wednesday are expected to stay in Pennsylvania. That small chance for rain will return later Thursday and Friday but will once again be widely scattered.

Cooler weather next week
Ahead of Sunday’s cold front, south winds will return on Saturday, allowing temperatures to approach 90° one final time. The current timing for Sunday’s cold front is in the morning. That means plan for rain first thing. Rain totals of around 1/2” look likely with perhaps as much as an inch for a lucky few.
Cool sunshine will return on Monday with highs just barely reaching 60°. Lows in the 30s next Tuesday morning will feel especially strange after all this heat.
