Woman, 61, killed in crosswalk in DC hit-and-run

A 61-year-old woman was struck and killed while crossing the street in a crosswalk in Northwest D.C. Saturday morning.

A 2026 Jeep Wrangler driven south on 23^rd Street passed two cars waiting in a turn lane to turn left on L Street and made the left turn from the middle lane about 11:10 a.m., police said.

Dawn Ciccone of Northwest D.C. was crossing L Street when she was struck, police said.

Ciccone was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Jeep did not stay at the scene.
