4 things to know about the weather:
- Much cooler this weekend
- Rain Saturday afternoon/evening
- Cloudy and cool Sunday
- Sunny and warmer Monday
The weekend will be much cooler, with rain most likely this evening.
Expect cloudy skies to start off your Saturday, with temperatures only in the 60s, about 20° colder than Friday. By the afternoon and evening hours, widespread, generally light showers will start to spread over the D.C. area. We’re not going to pick up a lot of rain – only about a quarter of an inch or less.
We do need the rain. The United States Drought Monitor has our area under a severe drought, which is level three out of five, with five being the most severe.
Rain showers will start to taper off Saturday night.
There could be a lingering shower early Sunday morning, but most, if not all, of your Sunday is looking dry, with temperatures only staying in the 50s throughout the day. So, it will be cloudy and cool for the second half of the weekend.
The sun returns Monday, with temperatures warming to near 70°. Rain chances return to the forecast on Tuesday and Wednesday.
