Crash between Ride On bus and car leaves one dead in Gaithersburg

A crash between a Ride On bus and an SUV in Gaithersburg, Maryland, left one dead early Friday morning, Montgomery County police said.

Hours after the 5 a.m. crash on Midcounty Highway, lanes were still closed to traffic and the damaged car was still on the shoulder of the highway.

The person killed was inside that car, police said. Police have not yet shared how many people were in the car, and it’s not yet clear how the crash took place.

The driver of the bus stayed at the scene, police said.

The crash took place at the intersection between Midcounty Highway and Woodfield Road. The westbound lanes of Midcounty Highway were closed at Goshen Road on Friday morning. Goshen Road was closed at Emory Grove Road. Eastbound lanes of Midcounty Highway remained open.
