Less than 24 hours after a woman was killed in a house fire in North Philadelphia, a second fire occurred at a home next door, NBC10 confirmed.
The fire started late Thursday around 11 p.m. at a home along the 6300 block of Ogontz Avenue. Video shows the home engulfed in flames.
“I come out here and there’s just flames shooting out of this building, and you could just feel the heat from the building even across the street,” a witness, who did not want to be identified, told NBC10. “And it was something man. Like holy cow.”
Firefighters were able to bring the flames under control. No injuries have been reported.
Another fire occurred at a home next door less than 24 hours earlier. On Thursday, around 4:40 a.m., firefighters and police responded to a house fire on the 6200 block of Ogontz Avenue. When they arrived, they found a woman — believed to be in her 60s — who was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:52 a.m.
Officials have not yet revealed the woman’s identity or the cause of either fire. They continue to investigate.
