Man killed in Mayfair house fire, officials say

A man was found dead in a home in Philadelphia’s Mayfair section late Tuesday by fire crews working to extinguish a house fire, officials said.

According to fire officials, an investigation is underway after a man was found dead inside a home located along the 3200 block of Teesdale Street by firefighters as they responded to a fire at the three-story home at about 11:20 p.m. on Tuesday evening.

Officials did not immediately provide further identifying information on the victim, but they said he was found dead on the first floor of the home. He was pronounced by medical professionals at the scene at about 11:30 p.m., officials said.

Crews, fire officials said, brought the flames under control by about 11:35 p.m. on Tuesday.

An investigation into the cause of the fire, officials said, is ongoing.
