A Philadelphia man was arrested and charged for murdering his wife after they left a party on Saturday night, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.
Officers with the Rockledge Police Department were called to the intersection of Huntington Pike and Filmore Streets around 10:05 p.m. on Feb. 21 after a SEPTA bus driver reported a shooting, officials said.
When the officers got to the scene they found a woman – identified as 48-year-old Alisett Schubert – on the ground outside of a Nissan SUV suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police said. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.
During the investigation, officials explained that the SEPTA bus driver was driving southbound on Huntington Pike when he came up to a vehicle that was stopped in the middle of the road.
Then, the bus driver said he heard at least two “pops” before seeing a man – later identified as Schubert’s husband 59-year-old Jose Luna – get out of the car, walk around to the driver’s side and open the door.
This is when the bus driver said he saw a woman fall out of the car so he pulled the bus over and reported the incident over the emergency system while giving a description of the suspect who had walked away with a gun.
One mile away from this scene, officers with the Philadelphia Police Department reported finding Luna, 59, who tried to shoot himself in the head but the gun was out of ammunition.

Luna was then arrested without incident, police reported.
Investigators discovered that the gun was registered to Luna’s wife.
Argument leads to deadly shooting
Investigators said that they interviewed Jose Luna after he was arrested and he admitted to them that he shot his wife – Alisett Schubert – while they were in her car.
Luna told authorities that they had just left a party where he had gotten angry with his wife because he had felt disrespected by her, officials said.
He also told them that he slapped Schubert in the back of the neck and had stayed angry with her when they left the party.

According to Luna, Schubert was driving the Nissan SUV and he was in the front passenger seat.
Schubert kept a revolver in her purse which was placed between them in the car as she drove, officials said Luna told them.
The couple started to argue while she drove so Schubert stopped the car in the middle of the street and demanded that Luna get out to walk the rest of the way home, he told investigators.
This is when he tried to grab her purse and they started to wrestle for it before he took it away and pulled out her gun, Luna had explained.
When Schubert tried to grab the gun away, Luna shot her one time, investigators said. Then, when she tried to get out of the car, Luna said he shot her “four more times.”
Then, Luna told officials that he saw his wife on the ground outside of the car and called her mother as well as his brother to help him leave.
