Police identified a man accused of stabbing a teen girl at the Willow Grove Park Mall in Abington Township, Pennsylvania.
On Wednesday, April 15, shortly before 2:30 p.m., police responded to the mall for a report of a girl who had been assaulted by a man armed with a knife.
The responding officers found a 14-year-old girl who had suffered multiple lacerations. Police determined the girl was involved in an argument with a man which led to the man stabbing her. The teen girl was taken to the hospital where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police sent a description of a suspect to other responding officers. A short time later, they found a man who matched the suspect’s description – later identified as 23-year-old Angel Ortiz – on the 2500 block of Moreland Road, police said.
Investigators determined the teen and Ortiz did not know each other prior to the incident.
Ortiz was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and other related offenses. He is currently in custody at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility.
