Philadelphia just added another bragging right to its already stacked food reputation.
Reading Terminal Market has been named “Best Public Market in America” by voters in USA Today’s 10Best annual contest.
Situated right in the heart of the city on Arch Street, the historic market has long been a go-to spot for Philadelphians, featuring nearly 80 diverse family-owned businesses, including two that date back more than 125 years.
Visitors can indulge in a delightful array of culinary treats, from mouthwatering cheesesteaks and warm, salty pretzels to fresh sushi and delectable cookies.
After satisfying your cravings, you can also check out a vibrant selection of stalls showcasing handmade imported crafts, locally-produced fine spirits, souvenirs and so much more.
To commemorate the third time as a top market, a celebratory event was held inside the market to unveil the new “Best Public Market” banner, which will be displayed under the iconic neon sign to welcome visitors throughout the summer.
With more than five million visitors in 2025, officials said the market was one of the most-visited destinations in the Greater Philadelphia Area.
If you want to check out one of the nation’s oldest and largest markets, it’s open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week.
