A reported fire quickly turned into a homicide investigation in Philadelphia’s Juniata Park community early Thursday morning, officials said.
According to police, homicide investigators responded to the scene of a fire that was initially reported along the 4300 block of Malta Street at about 12:30 a.m. on Thursday.
But, after fire crews arrived at the incident, within two hours, homicide investigators were called to the scene, officials said.
Officials said that these investigators stayed at the scene, clearing the area, until about 5:30 a.m.
However, as of about 8:30 a.m. officials have not provided further details on the circumstances in this incident, nor have they said where the fire was located, shared any information on a victim in this case and haven’t announced any arrests.
As spotted by NBC10’s cameras on Thursday morning, police towed a vehicle from the scene as the investigation continued.
Officials said an investigation into this incident is ongoing.
