A man and three teenage boys were arrested on Thursday after a stolen car chase ended in a crash and the recovery of a stolen firearm in New Castle, Delaware, according to Delaware State Police.
On April 23, 2026, police arrested 24-year-old Xavier Lamour and three teenage boys — including one 16-year-old and two 15-year-olds — and charged them with multiple felonies in connection with the incident.
According to officials, at approximately 9:50 a.m., a trooper was patrolling Route 1 near School House Road when they saw a Kia Sportage that was speeding while traveling southbound.
The trooper tried to conduct a traffic stop, but officials said the driver accelerated and refused to stop.
Police said the trooper began chasing the car, but decided to end the pursuit due to public safety concerns just south of the William V. Roth Jr. Bridge, and passed along the car’s description to area law enforcement.
A short time later, troopers searching for the car in the area of Route 1 near Middletown Odessa Road, saw the Kia approach at a high rate of speed, hit a tractor-trailer, and overturn in the center median.
Troopers responded and took the four occupants into custody. No injuries were reported.
Officials searched the car and found a loaded handgun that was reported stolen from Alabama. Moreover, a computer check showed that the Kia had been reported stolen by the Dover Police Department, officials said.
Lamour was taken to Troop 9, where he was charged with several felonies, including possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and receiving a stolen firearm and stolen property. His bond was set at $50,504.
The three teenagers were also taken to Troop 9 where they were also charged with multiple felonies, and they were committed to the Department of Services for Children, Youth & Their Families on $55,000 secured bonds.
