Someone launched a rock at a school bus as it moved along the New Jersey Turnpike earlier this week, shattering a window and seriously injuring an 8-year-old student, authorities say.
Officials want to bring that person into custody.
New Jersey State Police say troopers were called to the area near exit 70A/B in Bergen County’s Teaneck Wednesday for a report of a motor vehicle accident and aggravated assault.
The rock apparently was thrown at the bus as it traveled in the northbound lane of the Turnpike in that area. It broke a side window and hit the 8-year-old student. The nature of the student’s injuries wasn’t clear.
State Police released photos of the damaged bus.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information about the events before, during, or after the incident—including dash camera footage—is asked to contact the Troop “D” Newark Station Detective Bureau at 732-441-4500, ext. 1401.
