Alternate side parking in New York City has been suspended for the rest of the month “to facilitate snow operations.”
Alternate side parking rules, which allow the city to clean streets, will be on hold through Sunday, Feb. 1, the city’s Department of Transportation said Tuesday. Payment at parking meters will remain in effect throughout the city.
That will make seven straight days of suspended alternate side parking. For those curious, three straight snow storms in 1978 led to canceled parking rules for 62 days in a row.

When alternate side parking is suspended, drivers must still follow all other posted parking time limits and rules.
