Donning pink and white outfits, friends and family gathered Monday to honor the life of 7-month-old Kaori Patterson-Moore, who was fatally shot in Brooklyn at the beginning of April.
Patterson-Moore was sitting in a stroller with both her parents in Williamsburg when they heard the bullets. They ran into a bodega for safety and made the heartbreaking discovery that the child had been shot in the head.
“The mom is very, very devastated,” family friend Raheem Jennings told News 4. “She keeps having outbursts. It’s very sad, it’s very sad.”
Reverend Al Sharpton delivered the eulogy at Patterson-Moore’s funeral.
“I said that we must turn this tragedy into a wake-up call in our own community,” Sharpton said. “If you can look at a coffin that doesn’t even need pallbearers and that doesn’t shake you in your heart and in your life, then something’s numb about you.”
The New York City Police Department arrested two men, who they say were involved in the shooting, Amari Green and Mathew Rodriguez, who was apprehended in Pennsylvania.
