A 15-year-old boy was shot and killed at a park in Queens as the sun went down on an unseasonably warm spring day, police said.
The teen was shot just after 6 p.m. at Roy Wilkins Park near the intersection of Baisley Boulevard and Merrick Boulevard in the St. Albans neighborhood, according to police.
He was shot twice in the chest and rushed to Jamaica Hospital, where he died from his injuries, police said.
New York State Attorney General Letitia James shared her condolences on social media platform X after the shooting, saying “My heart is heavy tonight after we lost a 15-year-old to a senseless act of gun violence.”
No arrests have been made and a police investigation is ongoing.
