Police say officers were called to an area in front of a homeless shelter on Ninth Avenue, near 52nd Street, shortly before 5 a.m.
They found one man stabbed in the chest, and another hurt in the stomach.
Both were taken to a hospital, where the man with the chest wound died. The other person was said to be in stable condition.
Police say the attacker rode off on a bicycle.
It’s not clear what led to the stabbing. Caution tape cordoned off the crime scene through Thursday morning.
