Fire exploded Thursday at a Queens home, where police were responding to a call about a dispute, and quickly spread to another home, generating a fifth alarm and injuring nearly a dozen.
Police say officers were trying to get into the home where the call originated, on 130th Street in South Ozone Park, when an explosion happened. One of the buildings collapsed.
Police say everyone in the main building that was on fire appears to have been accounted for, and referred further questions to the FDNY.
Seven NYPD officers and a sergeant were taken to area hospitals in stable condition, according to the NYPD. Two civilians were also injured but are expected to be OK.
More details are expected at a news conference later Thursday.
